Behind the biographies : a personal study of Thomas Alva Edison : typescript, 1949-1950.

Vol. 1 contains a composition chiefly criticizing various Thomas Alva Edison biographies and popular assumptions; it concerns Lombard's husband, Thomas Russell Lombard, and his business relationship with Thomas Alva Edison, with information concerning Edison's unethical business practises and claiming inventions that may not have been his. The essay also discusses the invention and distribution of the phonograph, the North American Phonograph Company, the invention of the kinetoscope, Alfred Tate and his Edison biography, Edison's patents, and other subjects. Vol. 2 contains letters and copies of documents from institutions concerning research into Edison and Thomas Lombard and a biography of Thomas Lombard at end. Photographs include several of Edison and Thomas Russell Lombard, as well as other individuals and groups associated with both men. The letters are from various institutions and individuals with whom Rose Lombard had contact during her research.
